I'm looking for the best advice I can find on change management -- in the context of outsourcing or shared services -- to share in an article on the topic. Does anybody have anything they've experienced or tried that they'd like to share?

As a change mangement consultant, the best advice I can offer is start early! Change Management is NOT a last minute, go-live prep event - it is a continuous supporting workstream that should begin with the inception of the project and run through implementation. The key is carefully assessing the impact of the changes on the workforce, and developing steps to incrementally move them from their current way of thinking to the mind set needed to effectively operate in the new, outsourced environment. Remember that resitance, uncertainty, and even fear are common and normal. If you draw on the cultural strengths of the organization you can mitigate the risks and challenges to bring the workforce through a successful change.
