UBS Investment Bank is seeking an experienced Project Manager in its Stamford, CT location, to oversee the Legal and Compliance IT Knowledge Management Portal implementation. The UBS Investment Bank ESSOC (Enterprise Shared Services Operations Committee) provides services to Equities, Fixed Income, Rates & Currencies and Investment Banking Divisions. Legal & Compliance IT focuses on enterprise wide applications supporting the legal and compliance business units globally.
The Knowledge Management Portal is being developed to enhance productivity of existing staff by facilitating access to legal and regulatory information while reducing the costs of legal advice. The goal is to provide ease in propagating Legal and Compliance principles and culture throughout the firm. The solution will provide access to current and historical regulatory and compliance information and opinions. It will also integrate the L&C toolset.
Role & Responsibilities
The successful candidate must be self-starting, possess excellent verbal & written communication skills and be customer oriented. Excellent listening skills are essential. The candidate will also have excellent project management skills, gathered over multiple years working on large technology projects. The candidate must be highly committed, reliable, responsive and knowledgeable. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate proven leadership skills and demonstrate empathy to ensure courteous and efficient service is provided with tact and patience.
Prior experience with vendor management, outsourcing and document management systems, preferably DOCUMENTUM is a decided asset.
The ability to proactively manage is essential. This position requires proficient technical skills and an ability to resolve complex problems creatively. Specifically, a minimum of 8 – 10 years experience working in a technical Project Manager capacity.

Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of general investment banking business process Responsible for the management of project problems, ensuring effective and timely resolution Demonstrable skills in communicating technical issues Promote the overall stability of the system through improved support initiatives Develop a broad knowledge and understanding of the global support model, technology and business issues in order to identify specifications to improve the supportability of the service Function as a liaison to the business, ensuring that issues important to the users are identified and addressed or directed to the appropriate area Develop effective lines of communication with customers, business clients and within Technology. Ensure there are sufficient Service Level Agreements in place.
Periodic Responsibilities (performed as needed)
Coordinating and managing system releases Drive product packaging of new products and enhancements to the software Ensure there is adequate application documentation for training, cross-training and troubleshooting
- An undergraduate degree – Specialization in Computer Science, Engineering or Business related discipline is desirable. MBA desirable as well
- 8 – 10 years in IT, preferably in development using the essential technical skills listed below
- Any European/Asian languages would be an advantage
- Periodic mobility required
- Team leading experience, preferably in a global production environment
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of Investment Banking legal practices
- Some knowledge of SEC legal standards required
The following technical skills are ESSENTIAL:
- Understanding of relational databases
- Understanding of distributed systems
- Understanding of client server systems
Exposure to the following would be an advantage (successful candidates would be able to gain this experience):
- Any RDBMS (preferably Oracle)
- Java and/or JSP
