This from Silicon.com article, "Cash-squeezed mid-size firms turn to IT outsourcing": According to an IDC survey in the UK, 48% of firms have already outsourced their desktops and 39% have outsourced their data centers.

Survey respondents consisted of 46 senior finance executives and CFOs at UK companies with revenues between $100 million and $1 billion. (Their definition of "mid-size" boggles me.)

Here's an interesting tidbit by author Andy McCue:

The ideal outsourcing deal length is three to five years (70 per cent of respondents) but medium-sized firms also favour tough penalties for supplier failures. Almost half (48 per cent) said the outsourcer should pay three times the annual contracted revenues as compensation.
